BOVARY by Peer Parfum

This scent has been conceived by Gina Fischli and life long friend Clemens Hunziker in gracious collaboration with master perfumer Antoine Lie.

This perfume is essentially painting the portrait of the figure of Madame Bovary as in the eponymous book by Gustave Flaubert from 1856. Though her particular story is situated in the 1840s we wanted to look at the figure of Emma Bovary in a modern context as she is easily found in European society today. Madame Bovary is a person consumed by dreams of a higher social class and romantic passion, both promises perfumes like to make as well. While we read we understand her desire for freedom and love and at the same time must watch her spiral ever deeper into greed and narcissistic destruction. A perfume that mirrors the peril and thrill of desire, the fleeting cheapness of a 'fake-it-till-you-make-it' world and a representation of the hungry beast inside us all.
